Privacy Policy

Who this covers

This site (shanjai.in) is a personal portfolio built and maintained by Shanjai R. It is not a company, and it does not sell products, process payments, or require you to create an account. This policy explains the data collected simply by visiting or using the interactive tools here.

What's collected, and by whom

Three third-party services are used on this site, each with their own privacy practices:

Google Analytics (GA4) — collects standard analytics data (pages visited, approximate location from IP, device/browser type, referring site) to understand traffic. Runs on every page.

Mixpanel — product-analytics tool used on the homepage to understand how the interactive Playground tools are used (clicks, feature usage). Off by default until you accept cookies.

Google AdSense — serves ads on the homepage only, and may use cookies for ad personalization. Off by default until you accept cookies.

None of these are configured to collect names, email addresses, or any other information you haven't chosen to share (for example, by emailing me directly).

Cookies and local storage

Google Analytics, Mixpanel and AdSense may set cookies as described above. Separately, this site uses your browser's local storage (not cookies, and never sent to any server) to remember small preferences — for example, that you've already seen the intro popup, or your cookie choice itself. That local storage stays on your device and is only ever read by this site.

Your choices

When you first visit, a banner lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies (Analytics, Mixpanel and AdSense). Google Analytics itself runs in a consent-denied state by default until you accept — no analytics or advertising cookies are set before that choice is made. You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings, which will show the banner again on your next visit.

You can also use your browser's or device's own privacy controls (such as "Do Not Track," ad-blockers, or Google's Ads Settings) independently of anything on this page.

The interactive Playground tools

The tools under /playground run entirely in your browser. Files you upload (like a CSV to explore) are processed locally on your device and are never sent to, or stored on, any server.

Hosting

This site is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub may log standard server-request data (like IP address) as part of operating that infrastructure — see GitHub's Privacy Statement for details.

Children's privacy

This site isn't directed at children under 13, and doesn't knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "last updated" date at the top of this page will change too. Meaningful changes will be reflected here directly.
